Feb 10 , 2009 :: The UW team was unable to find the net in the pool round at the 2009 ACHA National Tournament in Rochester, NY. The Badgers, who were short players in their first game, lost 6-0 to University of Massachusetts - Amherst. In game two against Robert Morris, their opponents would again find the net six times defeating the Badgers 6-0. The UW would eventually find the net scoring seven times including a hat trick from senior captain, Jaime Ferrentino. Lindenwood University would eventually go on the beat Robert Morris 2-1 in the Championship game to win their second consecutive title and third title in five years. Robert Morris and Wisconsin are the only other teams with multiple national titles. The UW won titles in 2002 and 2004. This marks the end for skaters Holy Olp, Betty Donlan, Shannon Herrick and Jaime Ferrentino. Olp skated three years, taking one season off to study abroad. Donlan played all four years. Herrick, a transfer from St. Olaf saw two years of action and Ferrentino who transferred from Robert Morris University played two seasons. The Badger club skaters finish with an overall record of 12-16-1 and 6-11-1 in the ACHA. |
