2003 Season Highlights

Erin Ficken earns ACHA's Top Honor - 2003

ACHA 'Player of the Year'- Erin FickenSophomore Defenseman/Co-Captian Erin Ficken (Brooklyn Park, MN) was voted 'Player of the Year' by the ACHA coaches. Ficken tops other great ACHA standouts such as Tara Trombly - NMU Goaltender, Andrea DeShong - MSU Forward, and four others players to become Wisconsin's first player ever to earn an award of this magnitude.

Standing a mere 5' 1," Erin is one of the most aggressive and toughest defensive players in the league. Erin has found the knack to consistently stand opposing players up at either blue line. On top of knowing how to position her body to gain control of the puck, Erin had no problem sacrificing her body to block shots. She never let her size come between her and getting the puck. Ficken only scored 2 goals and had 13 assists in 25 ACHA games, but her overall impact on the ice made her a solid choice for this honor. Ficken was also honored by her teammates as she was voted co-MVP with Goaltender Katherine Arner.
