Forward Andrea Lavelle of Penn State has been selected as the 2001-2002 ACHA Women's Division Player of the Year. Lavelle was the leading scorer for Penn State and the 2002 ACHA Women's Division National Tournament MVP. She also sacrificed a golf scholarship her last semester of her senior year to join the team at nationals where she led her team to 3rd place, six spots higher than the pervious year.
Wisconsin, the 2002 ACHA Women's Division National Champions, led the 1st Team All-American selections with three of the six spots. Joining Lavelle on the First-Team were forwards Anne Woll of Wisconsin, who earned a 2nd Team All-Tournament spot, and Step Metcalf of Colorado who received 1st Team All-Tournament honors. Leading the defense was Heather Coubrough of Boston University who was also on the 1st Team All-Tournament, and Anne Chamberlain of Wisconsin who made the Honorable Mention All-Tournament team. Topping off the group was goaltender Katherine Arner, of Wisconsin, who was on the 1st Team All-Tournament.

The American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Women's Division would like to announce the Academic All-Americas for the 2001-2002 season. Academic All-Americans are based on academic performance and all members are Juniors or above academically, and are a regular contributor to the team. The minimum cumulative Grade Point Average for a player is 3.5 on a 4-point scale. GPA is not the sole criteria but is weighed heavily along with other accomplishments such as awards, fellowships and scholarships, special commendations and/or other similar academic opportunities.
